Sometimes being always connected is useful, like when you realize you’ve forgotten to write for almost two weeks. That brings to mind just how connected we always are. I mean we always have our phones, many of us have smart watches and rings that demand our attention. When struggling with chronic illnesses always being connected strikes me as a bad idea. It’s hard to relax and destress when the world is always yelling for our attention. I’ve had doctors tell me to help with depression and anxiety stop watching the news. That raises a question for me of what’s the hardest thing for you to give up so you can disconnect from the world? I have a hard time putting my phone down, I use it to read and play games which leads me to feeling lost without it. While I don’t have an issue with doomscrolling I’ve heard from family members about how depressing that can be. What are some none screen ways we can entertain ourselves? I know an easy one for me is, instead of reading on my phone all the time I can pick up a paper copy of a book.
