It’s been a while since I last posted, which seems to be my pattern. I tend to post once or twice and then disappear for a month or so. Over the past month, I’ve been dealing with significant leg pain — it feels like my knees and muscles are burning. Every time I try to go upstairs, my legs scream at me, and rolling over in bed is nearly impossible because my hips hurt so much.
So, what did I do? In addition to adjusting my pain medication, I turned to Google for answers about fibromyalgia and chronic leg pain. I found that it’s not uncommon for people with fibromyalgia to experience chronic leg pain, especially at night when trying to fall asleep. I’ve learned that I need to take a pain medication before settling into bed because otherwise, I can’t sleep; the pain in my knees and ankles keeps me awake, making it hard to find a comfortable position.
One of the suggestions from my online search was to consider regular massages, so I’m planning to try Massage Envy to see if that helps alleviate some of the pain. I’ve also started doing some regular exercises and stretches to prevent my muscles from tightening. I found that stretching my hips has been beneficial — even a simple toe touch helped relieve the discomfort in my hips.
I’m hopeful that getting a massage will offer some relief, just like the stretching has. I know that taking a hot bath has helped in the past, but it’s too hot here in the desert to comfortably sit in warm water for even half an hour.
